International DOAS Workshop 2025
Τhe next International DOAS Workshop (DOAS 2025) will be held from 9-11 July 2025 in Thessaloniki, Greece, at the Research Dissemination Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). The Workshop will provide a comprehensive international forum for presenting and discussing recent achievements on Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy research and applications, including enhancement and development of instruments and inversion algorithms. We welcome both oral and poster presentations on the following topics:
- DOAS applications
- DOAS instrumentation and technological developments
- Advancements in spectroscopy
- Advancements in DOAS spectral retrievals
- Advancements in radiative transfer theory and implementation
- Advancements in inversion algorithm development and implementation for trace gases and aerosols
- Advancements in DOAS satellite retrievals
- Network development and harmonization across DOAS observations
- Validation and data-assimilation applications with DOAS observations
Details about the program, abstract submission, registration, and live streaming of the oral sessions will be available over the next few weeks on the Workshop’s website: www.DOAS2025.gr

3rd Autumn School on “Drones and Sensors in Atmospheric Sciences” / CARE-C of the Cyprus Institute
The 3rd Autumn School, organised by Center of Excellence for Climate and Atmosphere Research (CARE-C) of the Cyprus Institute, entitled “Drones and Sensors in Atmospheric Sciences”, which took place on 11 November to 15 November 2024, has been successfully concluded. The week- long course took place at the Cyprus Institute’s premises in Nicosia, Cyprus and it was attended by 14 students from 14 different countries including Lebanon, Finland, India, Greece, Portugal, Pakistan and other. The primary focus of the school was on the operation and scientific exploitation of UAV-sensor systems in atmospheric sciences.
The PostDoc researcher of LAP, Konstantinos Michailidis, from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, had the opportunity to visit the premises of CARE-C’s Cyprus Atmospheric Observatory in Cyprus, in the framework of TNA ATMO-ACCESS which enables researchers to access first-class atmospheric facilities in Europe. This TNA gave the opportunity to Konstantinos for the first time to participate in a field campaign with drone-based instrumentation and this knowledge will be transferred back to the LAP for conducting their own synergy studies with a perspective of future cooperation.
International Laser Radar Conference 2024
LAP-AUTh lidar team (Dr. Konstantinos Michailidis & Georgia Peletidou, PhD student) participated in the 31st International Laser Radar Conference, held in Landhsut, Bavaria, during 23-28 June. The scope of the conference covers all fields ranging from laser and detector technologies, to detection of substances, constituents and transport throughout all layers of the atmosphere, measurements of essential climate variables, and observations related to ocean properties and ecosystems.
